The Chess Visualization Course, Book 2: Kingside Sacrifices
and Combinations (with Preparatory Positions) is now
available as an ebook. It's 564 pages long and contains 880 visualization
exercises that illustrate the main sacrifices and combinations that occur
on the six squares directly in front of Black's kingside castled King
(specifically, f7-g7-h7 on the 7th rank and f6-g6-h6 on the 6th rank).
The book contains 28 chapters broken down into five sections:
Section 1. Sacrifices on f7 -- 6 chapters
Section 2. Sacrifices on g6 -- 3 chapters
Section 3. Sacrifices on h7 -- 6 chapters
Section 4. The Classic Bishop Sacrifice -- 5 chapters
Section 5. Sacrifices on the Dark Squares -- 8 chapters
With 880 visualization exercises in 28 chapters, the average is a little
more than 30 exercises per chapter. Each chapter has at least 16 and as
many as 44 visualization exercises. Nine of the 28 chapters have 40 exercises
or more.
This ebook also contains 1802 preparatory positions that show the various
mating patterns and other key ideas that occur at the end of each
visualization exercise. We added the preparatory positions because many
of the visualization exercises in Book 2 are longer than those in Book 1
and we wanted to do everything possible to help you visualize these
longer variations all the way through to the end of the variation.
But adding the 1802 preparatory positions has made this a very large book --
564 pages in all! So, in order to keep the cost of the book low,
we are intially offering Book 2 as an ebook.
This not only reduces the cost of the book itself, but also eliminates
all shipping costs. The ebook is a .PDF file that you can either read
on your computer or print out as a hardcopy document.
