Chess Visualization Course, Book 1: General Tactics
Sample Exercises -- Introduction

The following pages contain 24 of the 800 exercises in the the book, four from each of the following six chapters:

Chapter 3, Exchanges Involving Pieces of Different Value;
Chapter 7, After Effects;
Chapter 13, Expanding the Position;
Chapter 16, Desperado Queens;
Chapter 22, Rabid Passed Pawns; and
Chapter 25, Seeing Further

You can view these exercises either by using the links on the left (see "Sample Exercises") or by opening up our 20-page e-booklet.

Each training exercise consists of a diagrammed position followed by a series of moves, plus a question about the final position. Your task is to 1) visualize the moves given and 2) answer the question provided. An answer key at the end of the book (not given here) allows you to check your vision.

Note on Coordinates: Although the diagrams shown on the following pages of this website do not have coordinates, all diagrams in the book do have a full set of coordinates. The e-booklet shows what the diagrams look like and how they are laid out on a page.
